Communities in the South West Shore region of Nova Scotia regularly seek support from the Development Authority to represent them on issues of concern to their citizens. In addition, the work of the staff of the authority often creates a positive environment in a community that will prepare it for change. Municipal governments and non-profit groups access the Development Authority for financial, administrative and planning support.
Some of the efforts linked to this role as community developer are managed under the auspices of the Development Authority including: Youth Sevices Centers in Barrington Passage and Yarmouth (providing services related to entrepreneurship in youth and youth employment services).
Community Access Program sites throughout the region in 21 locations coordinated by the staff of the South West Shore Development Authority (providing public access, training and information services to citizens).
